Prepare the Cabinet

MillipedeThere is a hole in the front of the cabinet. Looks like it had a bar across the coin vault and someone removed it with a crowbar. Someone else attempted a repair by slapping and entire can of wood putty over the hole. The putty is over applied. They applied it over the exit wound, over the surrounding artwork, over the coin door, it is all over everything. They did it too fast, too. There are huge fault lines in the putty. This will have to come off.
I carefully remove the excess putty from the surrounding art work using a putty knife and a wet rag. It looks better already.
I am trying to gouge out the remaining putty. I can best describe the hole as an exit wound. The front is still intact from the inside except the small bolt hole. Outside it is a crater about half the depth of the particle board. If I can remove the putty and start over with a proper job this will greatly improve the cabinet front.
