The Shop
Project Games reside in the shop during restoration. Until recently the shop was my basement. That changed in May 2012.
The basement shop is great. The comforts of home: A/C, Heat, Internet access and beer in the fridge. There are some drawbacks, though. First, my wife would like to finish the basement so I have a proper place for my games (and her pool table, wine, kayaks in winter,...). It is for my arcade, really.
Another reason to have a shop that is not at home is paint. I have tried to paint cabinets in the basement, garage and even the driveway. Never have I been successful without scorn. The smell, dust and stray paint have always made the next painting venture a non-starter in my house.
First I rented some storage for a few games, no painting! Then I built a paint booth and got a more practical but small space. Now I have 300 square feet of mess making space with a paint booth!
The roof on the shop leaks, told the land lord but nothing really happened. Well, nothing until the flood. In November of 2013, we had a deluge on the center storage section. Lost boards, a cabinet, some parts and some of the floor tiles. Landlord patched the roof and no water since then. Now he is rebuilding the bathroom.
