Locks

The MegaTouch IV Bartop has three locks. One on the coin box cover to keep the coins in the coin unit (Coin Mech, Credit Switch and Coin Box). It is a 1 1/8 inch with a short catch bar, very standard stuff.

The second is a 7/8 lock with a normal catch. It holds the back flap down by catching the bottom of the back panel. My bottom back panel is missing, so that one does me no good!

The third lock (picture above) is vexing me. That is a standard 7/8 lock with normal catch. It is held in the position the cabinet would place it if the coin unit were int he cabinet. I have no idea how that is supposed to grab the security catch on the coin unit.

So I ask, Howzat work?

Acquisition

PROJECT: BARTOP

I acquired this bartop after an inspiring visit to another NJ home arcade. I love the early 8 bit games. The game mattered! The developers could not lean on flashy graphics or an underlying Physics Engine. Everything about those games required planning, thought and deep concern for detail. When the company did not deliver, it was obvious.

Not everyone who visits cares like I do. They want fun! I grabbed this bartop because it was in bars when my nephews were just starting to frequent those establishments. The trivia is outdated, but so are the people playing the game ;-)
